The United States of Guns, War and Overpriced HealthCare

Picture by John Hopkins School of Public Health

When a country has an $800 billion annual defense budget, what do you think will happen? It’s pretty logical. That country will tend to go to war more than others. The U.S. defense budget exceeds the combined military spending of the next ten highest-spending countries.

When a country is 4% of the world’s population but owns 40% of the world’s guns, what do you think will happen? Exactly. More gun deaths than any other country on earth.

When a country’s healthcare and prescription drug prices are 10 to 30 times higher than in other countries, what do you think happens? More deaths related to healthcare costs and it will be the number one reason why Americans file for bankruptcy.

The same is to say, if you left a whole bunch of kids alone with a box of matches, there is a good chance there would be a fire.

Any questions?
