♫♫ Mama, put my guns in the ground ♫♫

♫♫ I can’t shoot them anymore ♫♫ —- 3 cops down in Pennsylvania on September 17th, 2025

They say the definition of insanity is repeating the same thing over and over and expecting different results. But, that is not where the US is anymore.

The definition of STUPIDITY is knowing it’s insane, and doing it anyway. The United States makes up 4% of the world’s population, yet owns 46% of the world’s guns. Is it any wonder why the US has 46,000 gun deaths each year? Mathematics is a matter of fact. It cannot be argued with because it can be proven. God cannot be proven. Thoughts and prayers can’t be proven. We are not going to pray our way out of this gun epidemic plaguing civilian life in the US.

Now, the United States knows this with respect to technology, science, mathematics, and engineering. But with guns, they are blind as a bat and dumb as rocks. I will repeat this later again in this article: “Lives are more important than ‘rights.'” – I do not care what the founding fathers said or meant in 1791 regarding the 2nd Amendment. It has NO practical application in 2025.

They say America is the land of the free, home of the brave. It’s not the case. America is the land of guns and the home of the dangerous. The United States has an addiction to guns the world has never seen. And like with any addiction, until the problem is acknowledged and dealt with, it will continue wreak havoc on anyone and everyone in it’s path.

Later, I’ll show how a principle Tony Robbins shared 40 years ago about modeling success applies directly to the fight against gun violence. We are going to look at the countries that have put gun violence in the ground where it belongs.

Details about the incident in Pennsylvania:

When officers entered the farmhouse, Ruth opened fire with an AR 15 style rifle equipped with a suppressor, killing three officers and wounding two others before being fatally shot by responding officers. Ruth also “killed his ex-girlfriend’s dog” during the attack. Some call this an ambush. It is more accurate to call it a deadly defensive reaction. He knew the officers were coming and prepared to fight back. This illustrated the deadly consequences of domestic violence combined with unrestricted access to firearms.

Lives are more important than rights. Charlie Kirk was wrong when he said, “I think it’s worth it to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year so that we can have the Second Amendment to protect our other God-given rights.”

Rights are just an idea. But, AR 15s and guns in general are tangible killing machines. Again, God is unproven. Thoughts and prayers on are unproven. Math and common sense must supersede everything else for society to function safely. As mentioned above, The United States knows this with respect to technology, science, mathematics, and engineering.

Motivational speaker Tony Robbins gave us the answer 40 years ago when he said we don’t have to reinvent the wheel. Model those who are already successfully doing what you want.

Look at Japan, a country that has fighting gun violence down to a science. Japan has only about 10 gun deaths per year. Of course, even one is too many. By comparison, the United States has 46,000 gun deaths per year.

What is Japan doing to combat gun violence? They are focusing on commons sense solutions. They are not getting into the bullshit “rights” debate. They are too busy saving lives. Below is how Japan does it:

“If people want to own a gun in Japan, they must attend an all-day class, pass a written test, and achieve at least 95% accuracy at a shooting range. They must pass a mental-health evaluation and a background check, and they can only buy shotguns and air rifles. Every three years they must retake the class and initial exam.”

Australia and New Zealand banned military-style firearms and launched mandatory buyback programs to compensate gun owners, taking dangerous weapons out of circulation without punishing lawful citizens. These measures substantially reduced gun violence in both countries.

Canada also banned military-style firearms and used a buyback program to remove them from civilian hands, substantially reducing gun violence across the country.

The United States continues to be plagued by gun violence. It is a plague, like AIDS or polio. This will not end until the US abandons its brainwashed chant of “rights, rights, rights” and starts facing the realities and facts of common sense and mathematics.

Sincerely,

Scott Smith
